Door bottoms, cut to the sill you have.
November swells the bottom rail. August opens a gap you can see daylight through. Ira marks the sill with a pencil while the door is still hung, then takes it off the hinges. He planes the mark, not a wedge he imagined from the hinge gap.
Paint-packed hinges get the paint cut out of the knuckle. Bent leaves are replaced. Screws go back in the old holes unless the hole is stripped, in which case Nia plugs it and drills a new one in sound wood. If the jamb is out of plumb by more than the door can forgive, we stop and show you the level before any wood comes off.
Most of this work is between the tide flats and the north end. Hill houses with fir sills are the usual call.
